The Club's Annual General Meeting will be at
the Clubhouse on Wednesday July 8th at 7.00 for 7.30. An agenda, accompanying
papers and a newsletter will be distributed to members shortly. As well, as the
election of officers, the key item is a proposed change of status from a
members' club to a company limited by guarantee. There'll also be an
opportunity to discuss key aspects in the future development of the Club.
Members will be pleased to hear that, following the decision by Halifax RFC to
restart in the lower levels of the Yorkshire leagues, Haywards Heath have been
reinstated in London 1, renamed National 3 London. This represents a
significant challenge for the Club and there was considerable support for
grasping the opportunity. The players, coaches and officials will now be
working hard to ensure that Heath sufficiently prepared for the challenge.

Haywards Heath RFC is a thriving, community-based club, which - celebrated its
50th anniversary in 2008. As well as
running four senior sides (and an occasional Vets team) in various league and cup competitions the club also has
over 450 registered youth players and provides rugby for all abilities at all
age groups from 6s to 60s.
Haywards Heath RFC is pleased to announce the appointment of Adam Vander
as Lead Coach to the senior section of the Club. Adam, who came through
the youth section of Haywards Heath to play for the seniors into his
early twenties, went on to a distinguished playing career as a
professional with Richmond, Bristol and Bath. Whilst at Haywards Heath
Adam represented England at U16, Colts and U21 levels and, as a
professional, represented England at 7’s and ‘A’ level on numerous
occasions.
Adam
sustained a horrific foot injury whilst playing for England ‘A’ six
years ago ending his professional career prematurely whilst making a
serious run for full caps as part of the England senior squad. However,
Adam has felt lucky over the past two seasons to be able to hobble out
in Heath colours once again, playing for the A’s alongside many of his
colleagues who led Heath to the successes of the last 20 years, and also
some exciting home-grown juniors on the way up into the senior squad who
will play a big role in leading Heath on to future successes.
Adam
hopes to be able to establish a stable culture within the club on which
we can build for the future with a strong sense of continuity from all
Heath’s past glories on and off the pitch. As a Heath player himself he
is keen to develop local talent and to ensure progression through the
minis, juniors and colts to the senior club. He’ll be acting as a role
model for our coaches too in developing his own coaching qualifications
over the next few months and is keen to rekindle the fires of enthusiasm
in the senior club reflected, we hope, in members stepping up to offer
their services in a number of key roles.
We’re
all looking forward to next season with Adam in charge and to the
success of Heath’s senior teams.
