On a grey day at Pulborough RFC, Heath under 14s development squad took on their hosts!

Any other time you might have been forgiven for watching the gliders taking off at the nearby aerodrome, but not today! In a scintillating game, which saw Heath playing uphill for the first half.
They showed depth and character and, led by Tame, put defensive pressure on the Pulborough backs.

The line speed was superb and when arriving, the tackling position was low and powerful. Full credit to the Heath backs.

The forwards also deserve a mention as, again and again, as Pulborough came forward, they were repelled by some fierce counter rucking and aggressive tackling. They turned over numerous balls and allowed Soloman to distribute out to the backs, where there were some penetrative runs, challenging the Pulborough defence.

At half time, scores were even at nil-nil.

The second half saw Heath playing downhill with the wind at their backs, allowing them to clear their lines comfortably with numerous kick and chases. They made great inroads with some superb chasing down and tackling.

The pressure was starting to be applied from Heath and from a penalty kick to the corner and some good forward moves, Tame fed Barnett, who in turn fed Phillips, who showed a good turn of pace
for the first try. The conversion was missed but Heath were starting to dominate with a 5-0 nil lead.

After the restart, Pulborough came back looking for a score, but the Heath defence was resolute. After some great
counter rucking, the ball was turned over and Phillips ran from inside his own half to score in the corner. Barnett stepped up from the 5 yard line and sublimely kicked over the conversion to secure a 12 - nil lead.

After the restart, Coyne, who had been causing a nuisance all day to the opposition, crashed over in the middle of the park for the third try, with Barnett converting for Heath to win 19 - nil.

As a mention in dispatches, there were some surging runs from James on the wing and some great defensive work from Davies & Stone. With the front row of Bradford, Dewar & McDonagh blitzing
the rucks & mauls.

A great game of rugby with Pulborough being superb hosts, and Phillips taking man of the match!
