Heath began the game by holding on to possession and patiently building up pressure through multiple phases of play. They were rewarded with three tries within the first 15 minutes, converting two of these.
This set the scene for a match in which Heath dominated and held on to most of the possession.
Brighton had a few individual star players who could have altered the balance of the game but were never allowed to get into gear with strong tackling from Heath successfully smothering the home team’s attempted counter attacks.
Injuries saw Brighton finish the game with 13 men, with Heath taking off players to ensure the game remained evenly matched.
Brighton deserved credit for persevering to the end and were ultimately rewarded with two consolation tries. But Heath finished the game with the maximum, with the official score recorded as 55-5.
No fewer than ten Heath players ended up on the scoresheet, underlying the extent to which this was an all-round team display – with tries evenly split between forwards and the backs.
Elwood Tai-Chidlow, Gabriel Ramsey-Williams, Tim Greenyer and Archie Thomson all made their debuts for Heath, with Archie scoring a try.
Dominic Rolfe (who played at 10 and 15) was named man of the match for Heath by the opposition after a fantastic display of accurate goal kicking and some electric running rugby.
Heath’s coaches praised the team for strong communication, physical commitment from the first whistle, strong handling, dominant tackles and good ruck speed resulting in multiple turnovers.
One onlooker described the performance as “bursting with self-belief and character”.
