Crowborough Heathfield U14 Girls 5 Heath Girls U14 58

Heath put the disappointment of a recent Sussex Cup semi-final exit away against Worthing behind them with a resounding victory away to Crowborough/Heathfield. It was a fantastic team performance with try scorers across the forwards and backs.

Heath took the game to the opposition from the first whistle after turning the ball over at a ruck returning Captain and No. 8. Kaddie Camarra scored the first of what would be four tries on the day with a typical barnstorming performance that always had her team on the front foot. Heath kept the pressure on Crowborough/ Heathfield for the whole of the first half with second row Amelie Oliver to the fore, two tries in succession from direct powerful running.

The home team rallied in the second half but the Heath backrow, Evie Woolaston, Izzy Williams and Annie Wetton did not let them settle and Wetton snatched a try in the right hand corner after a strong run from winger India. Ilaria De Luca at full back was another strong performer with two try saving tackles and some great kick returns one of which resulted in a superb try with power and pace beating five defenders to score. Scrum half Luana Pearson also capped a lively game with a try in the last 5 minutes.

If this match was anything to go by the outlook for the second half of the season is very positive. New girls are welcome to join the Heath girls U12 and U14 squads at any time - for more information contact rugby@hhrfc.co.uk
