With a rest weekend for the senior squad and all youth rugby at Whitemans Green cancelled due to waterlogged pitches after an intense downpour on Saturday, Heath Under 16s travelled away to Cranbrook to test themselves against a strong Kent side.
It proved to be a close match, with Cranbrook taking an early penalty opportunity to grab the lead at 3-0, only for Heath to respond with two well-taken tries before half time and with one converted this gave Heath a healthy 3-12 lead going into the break.
However, Cranbrook hit back immediately after the restart and with the scores sitting at 8-12 to Heath there was a period of tense exchanges between the two well-drilled sides. Heath broke through to score a much-deserved try in the final quarter, finally evading a strong Cranbrook defensive effort to touch down and make the final score 8-17 to Heath U16s. A great team effort in heavy conditions showing there is a lot to come from this young and determined squad.
