RFU President visits Heath

Tracey Spuyman15 Jan - 22:46

Deborah Griffin was the guest of the Club last weekend where she shared her life-shaping experience of rugby

Last Saturday the Club hosted the RFU President Deborah Griffin, a pioneer of women’s rugby and significantly the first woman to hold this role at the RFU, at pre-match lunch in the HHRFC Clubhouse. During her one year as RFU President, amongst other things she attends all England rugby matches in the men’s and women’s game and this has coincided with England’s success in the Women’s Rugby World Cup which has been such a terrific boost to the women’s game around the globe.

She eloquently shared the huge impact rugby has had on her sporting career, her obvious love of the game and all it stands for and conveyed her passion for rugby which has been an intrinsic part of her life since she was very young and first picked up a rugby ball.

Deborah was blown away by the success of the Club in raising the funds needed to build the new HHRFC Clubhouse and the work the Club has invested in girls age group rugby and the first Heath Women’s squad over recent seasons.
