The A Team, under the diligent stewardship of Jez and Tom, certainly had their share of Howling Mad Murdochs. It may have been the early start, the exceptionally cold weather or that Hannibal's plan had not come together - but the kids were half asleep in the first game. As the tournament progressed, the play improved with the Plate Final a real possibility. The Final game again a competitive Crawley was a joy to watch. The smallest player on the pitch, Alex "snake-hips" Loder weaving through the defence. Fergus and George were great support as always. Gloveless Gracie became a tagging machine joining Jack pushing back the Crawley attacks. Lucas plucked an intercept pass out of nowhere before offloading to late arrival Archie "fresh legs" to run in the try. Jennifer, Tom and Oliver all got in the faces of the Crawley players resulting in a quick turnover, an offload out of the back of the hand and Archie running on to the ball at speed to score the best try of the day. The Crawley parents even joined in the rapturous applause and the Crawley Coach commenting, "you cannot Coach natural talent". The game was played in true rugby spirit with Heath sealing the Plate trophy with their best game of the day.
